Ranging from the Pacific slope of Mexico to El Salvador. This rather plain looking species is known for eating mice at Belle Isle Aquarium in Detroit. A generalized predator it feeds on small fish and insects in the wild. Likes to lurke in the slow moving waters among the weeds. Not quite as aggressive as it's reputation, but still a charter member of the hall. Keep in 200 gallon or larger tanks.
