This fish is another monster, growing to over two feet in length. Recently moved to the genus Petenia along with the Caquetaia species myersi, kraussi and spectabile. Ranging from Panama into Colombia, The Blue Freckeled Monster is truly a sight to behold. Unlike the Guapotes, umbriferum prefers to swim in the open waters and needs plenty of swimming space. Tanks less then 500 gallons will not do justice to these amazing fish. A predator that feeds on any fish it can fit into it's large mouth. Pictures of these fish are very difficult to come by as they always go crazy and attack the glass when you are near the tank because their territory extends beyond the limits of the tank. The following pictures were taken while someone was distracting the fish on the other side of the tank.
